37 years ago, Chuck Dixon started with an idea that became a tradition by bringing together gunmakers, artisans and like-minded people to a venue where they could all share in the muzzleloading tradition.  Sadly, in 2021 the decision was made to discontinue the event that was the Gunmakers Fair at Dixon's.  Not wanting this incredible venue to fade away into history, several organizations got together and the idea of The Gunmakers Fair at Kempton was born.  We are so grateful to the entire Dixon family for their passion, dedication, and commitment through the years and we hope we can carry on their values and traditions at our new venue.

    This event will continue to carry on the traditions and values set forth by the Dixon Family.  Preservation of the muzzleloading rifle culture is paramount to so many as it is not only a hobby for those involved but is is also the preservation of history in the form of schools of rifle building, horn work, engraving, redware, textiles, living history encampments and so much more.

The Gunmakers and Accouterments judging and competition will be continued at the new venue in the same tradition as the old one.  We are looking forward to seeing your entries.  Our Judges have been involved in their respective panels for many years and their critiques and advice is invaluable to help you advance in your craft.

 

The Seminars offered by our builders and artisans provide invaluable information in numerous areas of interest to include various aspects of  planning, crafting, and building: longrifles, powder horns, techniques of engraving and so much more.  These seminars have something to offer whether you are a beginner or a skilled craftsman or artisan.  Bring your notepad, camera and questions.
